Hello! My name is Brecken Hunt. I’m 17 and a senior at Coalgate High School. I’ve been in YAHL for about two years now. YAHL works with two policy change campaigns, but I’m here today to talk about our CounterAct Tobacco campaign. The CounterAct Tobacco campaign works to move the power out of Big Tobacco’s hands and into ours. 

What does the campaign work on, and how will comprehensive tobacco retail licensing help Oklahomans? So, the campaign works to increase awareness of the influence of Big Tobacco. For instance, how they target the youth and support preemption in Oklahoma. Having comprehensive tobacco retail licensing in place will make it so that whoever tries to sell e-cigarettes, vapes, nicotine-only products or cigarettes will need to have a license. This is a step in the right direction to put the power back into the hands of our communities and out of Big Tobacco’s.

Why should you support CounterAct Tobacco policies? We can put policies in place to support our youth in creating a better future for themselves and future generations who are already getting addicted to nicotine products.
